Editorial process

Every page on this site goes through the same five steps before it gets a URL. None of them are optional, and none of them are a marketing claim - each one leaves a record you can see on the page itself.

1. Drawn

Artwork is generated from an original prompt or drawn in-house, then vectorized. We publish public-domain subjects and original generic archetypes only - no trademarked characters, ever.

2. Processed

Nine deterministic steps run on every file: greyscale, blur, Otsu binarize to pure 1-bit, morphological close to reconnect broken strokes, despeckle, a dilate/erode pass that sets the difficulty, trace to SVG, render into the exact printable box, and export a true 1-bit vector PDF. No grey value survives anywhere in the file.

3. Measured

The rasterized page is measured, not estimated: percentage of the sheet covered in ink, how many separate enclosed areas there are to colour, average stroke width, and the narrowest gap between two lines in millimetres. Those numbers are what let us tell you whether markers will bleed together on a page. If a page has not been measured, it makes no measured claim at all.

4. Print-tested

One page per category is physically printed on both an inkjet and a laser printer, photographed, and the result recorded. Paper weight, toner behaviour and marker bleed-through are reported from those prints.

5. Reviewed

A named person signs off on the artwork, the age band and the difficulty. Their name and their other pages are linked from every page they reviewed. An unreviewed page simply carries no byline - we do not invent one.

Corrections and takedowns

If a page is wrong, or infringes something, tell us and it comes down. A removed page returns a permanent 410 rather than quietly redirecting somewhere else, so search engines drop it quickly instead of keeping a stale copy.
