Editorial process
Every page on this site goes through the first four steps below before it gets a URL, and none of them are optional. The fifth, a named reviewer, applies only to pages that have actually had one, and those pages say so.
1. Drawn
Artwork is generated from an original prompt or drawn in-house, then vectorized. We publish public-domain subjects and original generic archetypes only: no trademarked characters, ever.
2. Processed
Nine deterministic steps run on every file: grayscale, blur, Otsu binarize to pure 1-bit, morphological close to reconnect broken strokes, despeckle, a dilate/erode pass that sets the difficulty, trace to SVG, render into the exact printable box, and export a true 1-bit vector PDF. No gray value survives anywhere in the file.
3. Measured
The rasterized page is measured, not estimated: percentage of the sheet covered in ink, how many separate enclosed areas there are to color, average stroke width, and the narrowest gap between two lines in millimeters. Those numbers are what let us tell you whether markers will bleed together on a page. If a page has not been measured, it makes no measured claim at all.
4. Checked
Every generated drawing is checked by a vision model for child safety before it is processed: a drawing that fails is redrawn, and if the check cannot run the page is not created. Drawings cropped at the edge of the frame or traced out blank are rejected and redrawn the same way. A page only describes how it printed on real printers when that print has actually been made and recorded.
5. Reviewer bylines
When a named person has reviewed a page, their name and their other pages are linked from it. Most generated pages have not had a human review, so they carry no byline, and we do not invent one. Pages that artists submit, and generator pages people offer to the library, are the exception: a person approves every one before it is published.
Corrections and takedowns
If a page is wrong, or infringes something, tell us and it comes down. A removed page returns a permanent 410 rather than quietly redirecting somewhere else, so search engines drop it quickly instead of keeping a stale copy.
